This page explains how to add an email address (Gmail or non-Gmail) with which you can acknowledge your consent to participate in a study. It also explains the types of Google accounts that cannot be used to acknowledge consent at this time.
Add an email address for study consent
Add a Gmail account
Add a non-Gmail account (e.g. Yahoo! or other)
Non-Gmail accounts can be used for study consent if they are already linked to a Google Account. If your non-Gmail account is not associated with a Google Account, it must first be linked with a Google Account.
To link a non-Gmail account (e.g., a Yahoo! account) to a Google Account, follow these steps:
- If you’re already signed into another Google Account, click on the circular account icon at the top right of this page. Sign out of all accounts that you are logged into.
- Go to this support article. Under Step 1 find the “Use an existing email address” section to create a Google Account with your non-Gmail address.
Return to Google Health Studies and refresh the consent page. You should now see your added email address as an option with which to consent and join a study.
Email addresses that are not supported at this time
At this time you are unable to use certain types of accounts to acknowledge consent as mentioned below:
- Minors are ineligible to participate in health studies on the Google Health Studies app.
- Business, academic, or institutional accounts (e.g. james@xyzcompany.com ) are also not eligible because these accounts are managed by the business or institution.
