Get personal results on headphones

On headphones, you can control what kinds of info Google Assistant can say to you, including personal results from:

  • Email or Gmail, like flight reservations and bills.
  • Google Calendar.
  • Contacts.
  • App notifications, like reminders or what’s playing on your headphones.
  • SMS or chat apps, like messages.

Get personal results when your phone is unlocked

When your headphones are paired to an Android phone or tablet with the Google Assistant active, personal results are available through your headphones once you turn on personal results for that Android device.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings" or go to Assistant settings.
  2. Tap Assistant.
  3. Under "Assistant devices," tap your headphones and then Personal results.
  4. Turn on Personal results.

Get personal results when your phone is locked

You can ask questions like "what's on my calendar," or "what are my messages" without unlocking your phone first.

To get personal results while the phone is locked:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings" or go to Assistant settings.
  2. Tap Assistant.
  3. Under "Assistant devices," tap your headphones and then Personal results.
  4. Turn on "Personal results."
  5. Turn on "Headphones."

Important: If you use 3.5 mm wired headphones with Headphones personal results turned on, to get personal results, you need to unlock your phone at least once after you plug in your headphones. After you unlock your phone, you’ll get personal responses until you unplug your headphones.
