It's REALLY annoying when Google Play services auto-update, stopping you from doing anything on any Google app. And it often updates at the worst of times, when I'm in the middle of a conversation with my friends. Please please PLEASE tell me there is a way to turn auto update off so I can finish what I'm doing and avoid waiting for the lengthy update.

Here is what Google says...
To turn updates on or off, follow these steps:
  1. Open Google Play.
  2. Tap the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) onthe top-left.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Auto-update apps.
  5. To disable automatic app updates, select Do not auto-update apps.

Hmmm.... Have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing Google Play?
I work strictly from a desktop so don't know that much about what happens on mobile.

Hahah you are indeed right. Just being good at desktop doesn't mean you know anything easily about mobile problems.

And there is simple way not to stop auto update, but stop the entire play store service by go to settings > data usage > system apps > Google Play Store > disable background data & mobile data on sim 1 & 2.
