Every time I try to make or receive a call it asks for permission to use microphone in Gmail https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox .  I have it set to "Allow". https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox  When a call comes  in or I try to make one  it does not have the  check mark box "Always Allow"  as I have seen. I can set it to always allow by right clicking the chat window and page info,  yet it keeps on asking for permission to use. I thought maybe it has something to do with Flash ending, but when I use https://hangouts.google.com/ it works fine. And yes, I have removed all cookies and cache several times. Note that I use Firefox and Windows  7 .  Thank you in advance for your help.

Are you using this in the Chrome browser? Can you try a different browser and see if the same thing happens just to see if it might be a flash issue?

Hi Michael, thank you for the reply.  I am having the trouble in the Firefox browser only.  I just tried it in Chrome, and it did ask to use the microphone, gave the OK and I tried again after restarting and no problem. Also,  in Firefox when I am at the Hangouts web page it also works fine.  Only when it's used in Gmail the problem happens.   As I mentioned,  In the past I had seen the little box that you check to "Remember this decision" which does not show now when the microphone request is made in Gmail. I was only able to grant the permanent permission by right clicking and then using the page info settings.
Also, it lists it as a permission exception in Settings. For years this was no issue and it started around three weeks ago.

Attached screen shots of the permission boxes. Note the lack of the
"Remember this decision" check box option in Gmail.

why hasn't this been fixed? I'm having the same problem now. It is so annoying to have that popup everytime I make a call.

The problem is Firefox.  Mozilla just doesn't seem to care.  Its absurd that Hangouts works fine and Gmail doesn't and they are both the same company.   Welcome to the lunacy of Mozilla.  They are so well known for ridiculous things like this.  Not the most organized organization in the world.  Sometimes it seems like there is no one leading the islands of designers.  They just seem to randomly do what they want sometimes.  Its really unfortunate because their premise (non-profit) is very important in the online world where so much revolves around the almighty dollar.

Anyway, this is no big deal.  Just use Hangouts if you can't get Gmail to be polite.  So RUDE to keep asking the same question repeatedly!

So, this would literally take one firefox developer 5 minutes, to fix, but we are supposed to just use a different program instead (hangouts)?   *boggle*

I posted  on the  Firefox forums, and could not get an answer. So I went ahead and reported the bug, and basically got blown off :(  This was their answer:
"Thanks for the report, but this is not a compatibility issue since it is browser feature-related.
For this project, we try to focus our effort on website layouts, features or content that works as expected in one browser but not in another. Closing the issue as non-compat."
I am not even sure exactly what that means.
