Google+ Hangouts not working in Windows 10

I am trying to access G+ Hangouts via Mozilla Firefox after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook. I have also tried Chrome and Microsoft Edge they fail on "Verifying Installation".

Linden,

Have you tried with Chrome or Edge (IE)?

I have since tried both Chrome and Edge.   It seems to load OK until the end and then it stalls on "verifying installation".

In Chrome there shouldn't be an installation... what version of Chrome are you running?

I have the same issue with Microsoft Edge. It looks like it installs the plugin, but it never returns to the hangout page (even when I click the link at the bottom of the verifying installation page).  If I close the window and try to start a hangout again, it tries to reinstall the plugin.  Any help would be appreciated.
