Hangout Event shows "Party is over" message even though event hasn't ended

We have an event that is lasting multiple days and as soon as the hangout is empty (even though it isn't going to remain that way) users encounter the "Party is over" message when trying to join.  We have done this several times in the past and not had this issue prior to today.

Using Windows 7 64-bit, Firefox 23.0.1

Starting yesterday, we have been having the same problem. If I send a link about an event it becomes stale, people get confused, and we are no longer able to rely on hangout events being around when we need them.

For us this is frustrating and sad.

We are having this same issue.  whenever a hangout that we plan to use in the near future becomes empty our users get the "party is over" message.  This has been very disruptive to our program if a fix can be implemented that would be greatly appreciated.

For a workaround to this problem, see this post: https://plus.google.com/u/0/101125205728498663421/posts/bf1t5474hJr

The ability to have ongoing hangouts, even when it's empty, is of critical importance to our company. I truly hope Google brings it back soon.

The only workaround we've got right now is to send everyone to the actual Event Page, where the "Join Hangout" link will update as it changes.  Not ideal, but that may help others while we cross our fingers that Google corrects this.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to follow up here to say that this issue was escalated to the team and they've resolved the issue such that sharing your Hangout Events should now work as they once did.

Thanks for your patience!
