You can manage your conversations, invitations and contacts in Google Hangouts.
Note: The Google+ integration with Google Hangouts has been turned off. Invitation notification settings for contacts previously in 'Your circles' are now included in the 'Everyone else' setting. You can change notification settings at any time by following the steps in the 'Let people contact you without an invitation' section below.
See your contacts
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Hangouts app

- Tap Contacts
or Favourites
.
- You’ll see a full list of your contacts.
Add someone to your contacts
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Hangouts app
.
- In the bottom right, tap Add
.
- Type and select the person's name, phone number or email address.
- Type your message, and tap Send
.
- After you start a conversation or send them an invite, you will see them in your contacts.
Manage your contacts and conversations
Hide a contact
You can’t hide a contact, but you can learn how to block messages from someone.
Add iPhone or iPad contacts
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Hangouts app
.
- Tap Menu
Settings.
- Turn on 'Upload contacts'.
- If asked, let Hangouts access your contacts in the iPhone or iPad settings.
- If asked to periodically send your contacts to Google, tap OK.

Let people contact you without an invite
You can decide who can contact you directly without sending an invitation.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Hangouts app
.
- Tap Menu
Settings.
- Click Invitations
Invitation preferences.
- Choose who needs an invite and who doesn’t.
Add conversations to your favorites
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Hangouts app
.
- Tap Favorites
.
- Tap Add
tap a conversation.
