You can manage your conversations, invites, and contacts in Google Hangouts.
Note: The Google+ integration with Google Hangouts has been turned off. Invitation notification settings for contacts previously in "Your circles" are now included in the "Everyone else" setting. You can change notification settings at any time by following the steps in the "Let people contact you without an invite" section below.
See your contacts
- On your computer, go to Hangouts at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail.
- Click Contacts
or Hangouts contacts

- You’ll see a full list of your contacts.
Add someone to your contacts
- Go to Hangouts at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail.
- At the top, click New conversation
.
- Type a name, phone number, or email address.
- Send an invite or start a conversation to add the person to your contacts.
Manage your contacts and conversations
Keep a contact at the top
To keep a contact at the top, even when they’re offline, point to their name and click More
Pin to top.
Hide a contact
To hide a contact on your list, point to their name and click More
Hide.
See hidden contacts
- Go to Hangouts at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail.
- Open your settings.
- In the Hangouts app, click Menu
Settings.
- In Gmail, click the Down arrow
.
- In the Hangouts app, click Menu
- Click Hidden contacts.
- To see your hidden contacts again, tap Unhide.
See conversations and invites
- Go to Hangouts at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail.
- Click Open conversations

Let people contact you without an invite
- Go to Hangouts at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail.
- Open your settings:
- On the Hangouts app, click Menu
Settings.
- On Gmail, next to your name click the Down arrow
.
- On the Hangouts app, click Menu
- Click Customize invite settings.
- Select Customized and choose who needs an invite and who doesn’t.
