When you block someone, we won't proactively notify them (unless you block them from within a video call). But since blocking someone limits the interactions that person can have with you, the person may figure out that you've blocked them. Keep in mind, if you block someone, it won't prevent that person from sending you an email.
Ignore or block someone in a video call
You can ignore someone for a single video call or you can block them permanently.
Here’s what happens when you ignore someone in a video call
- When you ignore someone for a single video call, you and the person you ignored won’t be able to see, hear, or interact with each other for the rest of the video call.

- When you ignore someone in a video call, you’ll still be able to send and receive messages from the person in Hangouts and in other Google products.

- The person will not be kicked out of the current video call, but they won’t be able to join future video calls with you.
- During the remainder of the video call you will not be able to see or hear each other.
