Upgrade the software

Google regularly updates the Google Workspace Migrate platform and node software and occasionally updates the database software. You should use the latest version of the software to ensure that you have the most recent Google Workspace Migrate features and fixes.

Check the release notes for information on the latest software release.

How to upgrade the software

If you're upgrading the databases, nodes, and platform, start with the databases, then the nodes, before you update the platform. For details, follow the instructions below.

Upgrade the databases

If you need to update the databases, we let you know in the release notes. You can confirm the version of the databases you're running by going to the CouchDB or MySQL installation folder and checking the details in the Releases file.

To upgrade:

  1. Back up your database.
  2. Sign in to the Google Workspace Migrate platform and make sure no bridges or scans are running.
  3. In the task bar, right-click and select Stop Google Workspace Migrate service.
  4. Sign into MySQL and Apache CouchDB and stop the services.
  5. Go to Download the installers and download the CouchDB and MySQL installers.
  6. Run the installers as an administrator.
  7. When the installation completes, restart the MySQL and CouchDB services.

Option 2: Upgrade using the command-line interface

When you upgrade Google Workspace Migrate using the command-line interface, the installation parameters are populated with values from your existing installation. You don’t need to include these parameters unless you want to change them.
