GSA does not boot and asks you to press F1 key

Summary: Google Search appliance doesn't fully boot up and stops after BIOS check asking for F1 key.

Cause: If the search appliance finds a hardware-related change while booting up, it stops after BIOS check asking you to press F1 to Continue or F2 for System Setup.

Fix: Reboot the appliance and proceed by pressing F1 key. Do not press F2 key.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Monitor the boot messages for any errors.  If you see any errors reported by BIOS, please file a support ticket with those error messages in the description. If possible, please take a picture of those messages and attach it to the support ticket.
  2. If the search appliance still shows the same error asking for F1 or F2, please proceed with F1 key. Do not press F2 key.  The BIOS might show a default IP address (192.168.0.120) but you can ignore this. The search appliance will not loose the existing network configuration.
  3. Monitor the boot messages for any errors.
