Summary: For one or several SMB URLs, crawl diagnostics shows the message:
Excluded: Authentication failed.
Cause: The issue is due to a failure in the authentication. Either the credentials were wrong or the search appliance encountered another error which prevented successful authentication.
- Make sure that you have created a cralwer access rule for the URL on the Content Sources > Web Crawl > Secure Crawl > Crawler Access page in Admin Console.
- Verify the crawler credentials are correct for the crawler access rule on the Content Sources > Web Crawl > Secure Crawl > Crawler Access page in Admin Console. If unsure, you can reenter them.
- Enter the URL in Manual fetch request box, under Content Sources > Diagnostics > Real-time Diagnostics, and look for any issues which may be causing the failure.
