My 13 year old son is unable to access google groups
I've tried adding him to the list, but I get a message saying that he has turned off the settings to accept invitations or to be added directly. I tried searching for the settings in his account, but I could not find them.
If he tries accessing google groups directly, he gets a message "Can't access this service. This service is unavailable for google workspace for education users who are under 18 and children under 13". However, we aren't using google workspace for education, and he just turned 13 a few months ago.
I don't know if this is relevant, but his account is part of a google family group that I manage.
Any help is appreciated.

I have to say that the error messages from our earlier attempts were clear as mud. It seems like google could do a better job with their error messaging on this issue. Like, "you're trying to add a user to a google group that is a member of a family group. Please remove the user from the famly group, then try again" or similar. Alternatively, why can't a 13 year old be a member of a family group and still access google groups?
Anyway... it's done.
