Use canned responses in Google Groups

Canned responses allow you to compose a response and reuse it in your group as many times as you'd like. This can be a great time saver if you frequently find yourself posting the same thing. You can create and save as many canned responses as you like and give each one a descriptive title to make finding it later quick and easy.

  1. First, enable canned responses for your account on Google Groups. Click My Settings, then My Global Settings, and then check the box next to "Use canned responses."
  2. In the group in which you wish to use your canned responses, make sure that you have permission to do so.
  3. From the homepage of that group, click Manage in the top-right corner.
  4. Click Permissions, then Posting Permissions. Ensure that "Use Canned Responses" is set to include your role (as a group Member, Manager, or Owner).

  3. Click Manage canned responses.
  4. Select an existing response or create a new one.
  5. Provide a name for the response and write out what text you would like to use, including any links or formatting.
  6. Click Save.

Use your canned response

  1. Start a reply or new post.
  2. Click the Canned responses button above the text editor options.
  3. Select the response from the list, or start typing the title of your canned response to automatically filter the list of choices.
If you don't see the canned response option when creating a new post, ensure that you have the option turned on for your account, and that the forum you are in allows canned responses to be used.
