Organize favorite groups

You can also manually organize your groups within the Favorites section of the navigation tree.
Note: Click on the show/hide navigation button () in the upper left of the screen to display the navigation tree on the left of the screen.

Creating a folder within Favorites

You can place all your favorite groups directly in the Favorites section or create separate folders inside of the Favorites section to further organize your groups. To create a folder:

  1. Click on the drop-down menu to the right of “Favorites.” A list of menu items appears.
  2. Select New folder. The New folder dialog box appears.
  3. Type the name of the new folder in the field.
  4. Click the OK button. The new folder is created.

Adding a group to Favorites

You can use Google Groups "starring" mechanism to quickly add group to Favorites. To add a group to Favorites:

  1. Click on the star () to the left of a group name. A pop-up dialog box appears indicating that the group was added to Favorites. The star to the left of the group name is solid to indicate it is a Favorite group.
  2. (optional) To move the group into a sub-folder under Favorites:
    1. Click on the Change folders button to select a different folder under Favorites for the group. A list of folders appears.
    2. Click on a folder to move the group into that sub-folder or click New folder to create a new sub-folder.
Tip: Click on a star next to a group name to display a pop-up dialog box . Click on the 'Remove from favorites' link to remove the group from Favorites.

Moving a group within Favorites into a folder

You can place all your favorite groups directly in the Favorites section or create separate folders inside of the Favorites section to further organize your groups. Refer to Creating a folder (above) for information on creating a folder. To move a group from the Favorites section into a sub-folder within Favorites:

  1. Click and hold the left mouse button on a group name within the Favorites section.
  2. Move the cursor over a folder within the Favorites section:
    • If you are dragging a group into a closed folder, groups will be placed in the order they are added.
    • If you are dragging a group into an open folder, a horizontal bar appears to show you where it will be placed within the folder.
  3. Release the left mouse button. The group is moved into the folder.

Removing a group from Favorites

To remove a group from the Favorites section:

  1. Hover the cursor over the group name. The group name is highlighted and a drop-down menu appears to the right of the group name.
  2. Click on the drop-down menu. A list of menu items appears.
  3. Select the 'Remove from favorites' menu item. The group is removed from Favorites.

Removing a folder from Favorites

To remove a folder:

  1. Move any groups you want to keep in Favorites out of the folder.
  2. Hover the cursor over the folder name. A drop-down menu appears to the right of the group name.
  3. Click on the drop-down menu. A list of menu items appears.
  4. Select 'Delete folder.' The Delete folder dialog box appears.
  5. Click the OK button. The folder is removed.
Warning: All of your favorite Google Groups stored within this folder will be removed from Favorites. You will have to star these groups again to move them back into the Favorites section.
