Green Light uses anonymized driving trends from Google Maps to understand traffic patterns at intersections. We analyze a sufficient number of trips to ensure our measurements are statistically significant. Our model extracts intersection properties such as structure, movements, phases, cycle times, and green splits directly from vehicles moving through intersections. This removes the need for manual data collection or hardware sensors. We have conducted experiments to verify the metrics produced by our methodology using alternative data sources.
