How to clear/remove the Continue Watching list

Off late when you  click & hold any videos in the continue watching list all I get is an Open option. Nothing else. It's irritating since it mostly shows videos that I have finished watching already.

Basically if you hold the option with Remote, pop up will show for the remove . If that is not working then it is inherit from the parent app., check for example, if you see anything in the continue watching on the prime app, please try removing there. Else the last idea to clear updates from the Android TV home under the system apps . Still you face the issues need to remove the we activity on the Google account.

Thanks,
VJ

The option is not there for any of the apps. Currently it showing for Prime, YouTube & Jio cinema. Only option for all the apps is just "Open". Have done a factory reset of Android TV but issue still remains.

Sorry to hear that, what is the Android version on the TV?
Apr 29, 2024
OS version 11
Security patch November 5, 2023
Build RTT7.231021.001

Can you please screenshot as well, so that I can check with the internal team as well.

Screenshot of what? Remove option not showing?

Here you go. Netflix now show a hide button (assuming that is for hide). Disney+ Hotstar, YouTube, Jio cinema shows no other option apart from open.

Please make sure that you have no pending os and apps updates are on the list ?

Also clear data/cache of Google Play / Web View / Launcher / apps that you have issues with

Proceedure :-

1.First, please check that you're on the main "For You" tab and scroll down to the "Continue Watching" row.
2.Highlight the title that you want to remove and hold down the "OK" or "Select" button on your remote for a few seconds.
3.A menu will appear with two options. Select "Hide."
4.The title will now be gone from the "Continue Watching" row!

If you're unable to remove items from your "Continue Watching" list even after trying these steps, it's possible that there may be a technical issue with the platform itself.

Hope this helps

Is this a joke? I just posted screenshots that doesn't show the hide button for a majority of the apps & your solution is to click on a button that is not there?
Apr 30, 2024
Understood, have you gone through above suggestions ?
Apr 30, 2024
What suggestions? I am not getting the hide button. Is it this hard to understand?

I just did a factory reset a couple of days back. Shouldn't the cache/data be cleared then?
May 2, 2024
No, It wont make any difference after factory reset. This is not related to cache or app data.

How do I remove cache of individual apps?
May 4, 2024
Hi, VijayRChandran

There's probably no way to clear the app's cache individually.

You need to clear the cache of all apps.
Instructions are provided in the help below.

Free up storage on Chromecast with Google TV

That didn't work either. Still can't remove apps from continue watching list.

Hi, JitheshNambiar

The original poster probably imagines that the app's cache = clearing the continuous viewing list, but I think there is a high possibility that it is not linked.

My guess is that even if the cache is cleared, the continuous viewing list will remain the same.

For example, if you're using a Chromecast with Google TV, you can press and hold to cancel the watching state as per the first advice, but perhaps the original poster discussed clearing the Continued Watch list within a particular app. I think you are.

Hello Jun KOBAYASHI

There might be some confusions, but some users from reddit suggest this method and its working for some people :-)

Not sure what method you are referring to but I did try something new.

Deleted all the apps (Except YouTube, which you cant delete).
all the videos disappeared from the CW list.

Restarted the TV, Reinstalled all the apps.
all the videos reappeared in the CW list.

thanks for the reply
I see, there is information related to reddit and reports of improvements.

Unfortunately, the list is not recorded in the app's cache and seems to be tied to the app and account, so I think if you reinstall it and open the app with the same account, it will be back to its original state.

In this case, the only way to improve the issue is to contact the app developer about the problem.

Unfortunately it's not one app. It's happening with 2-3 apps. 😞

Hi, VijayRChandran

Please tell me the name of the app that is causing the problem.
I'll try to see if the same problem reproduces with what I have subscribed to/installed.

YouTube, Jio Cinema, Disney+ Hotstar
The only app that is showing hide option is Netflix
May 7, 2024
Hi, VijayRChandran

In my environment, I can try Youtube/Netflix, so I will try to see if there is a way to delete the viewing list on Youtube.
