Do more with Gemini for TV

Gemini for TV is an AI-powered assistant that allows you to use natural language to find TV shows and movies, receive recommendations, and ask questions.

  • Find what to watch: “What are some movies like Mission Impossible but funnier?”
  • Have conversations on any topic: “Can you explain the solar system to my third grader?”
  • Get help with everyday actions and routines: “Show me the backyard camera.”

To use Gemini for TV responsibly:

  • Do not rely on responses from Gemini for TV as medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Gemini for TV models are continuously evolving and can sometimes provide inaccurate, offensive, or inappropriate information that doesn’t represent Google’s views.
  • Your feedback helps Gemini for TV learn, improve, and become more helpful and safe.
    • To rate Gemini for TV's response, select Thumbs up or Thumbs down .
    • To provide feedback, say “Send feedback.”

Tips:

  • Gemini for TV is optimized for Google TV devices and isn’t the same as Gemini Apps on your phone, tablet, or desktop. Gemini for TV has its own set of settings found on the TV device or in the Google Home app.

Availability

Important: When you acknowledge Gemini for TV setup for your profile, eligible TVs in that Home automatically get Gemini for TV. If you have multiple Homes or create a new one, you need to acknowledge Gemini for TV setup for each Home.

Gemini for TV is available only on Google TV devices in select countries/regions and languages. Gemini for TV AI responses are available only for profiles associated with users 18 years old and above. Gemini for TV isn't available in Google TV kid’s profiles.

Eligibility: You can use Gemini for TV voice only:

  • On select devices:
    • TCL QM9K, QM7K, QM8K, QM6K, and X11K models
    • Google TV Streamer
    • Walmart onn. 4K Pro model
    • Hisense U7, U8, and UX models
  • In the United States or Canada.
  • In English (US and Canada) and French (Canada).
  • If you’re 18 or older.

By late 2026, Gemini for TV will expand to additional Google TV devices with Android 14 or higher and at least 2 GB of RAM and more languages and regions.

Age requirements

Gemini for TV AI responses are only available for account profiles associated with users 18 years old and above. Gemini for TV isn’t available in kids' profiles. Non-kids profiles for users under 18 will continue to get Google Assistant responses.

Setup & manage settings

If your device and profile are eligible, at the top navigation of the Google TV homepage, you can find a Gemini for TV .

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Select Accounts & Profiles and then your account and then Voice assistant.
  3. If you’re eligible, you can access Gemini for TV .

Select a voice for Gemini for TV
You can personalize how Gemini for TV sounds with new, more expressive voices. The voice applies across eligible Google TVs, speakers, and smart displays. Learn how to change Gemini for TV's voice.
Enable "Hey Google" for hands-free access

Important: To access Gemini for TV hands-free, make sure the microphone is turned on. You can check this on the side or underside of your device.

You can control your TV without a remote control on devices that have hands-free capabilities. When your TV is on or on standby, Gemini for TV can listen to you when you say “Hey Google.”

To turn on hands-free access for Gemini for TV:

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Select Accounts & Profiles and then your account and then Voice assistant.
  3. Turn on Hands-free mic.

Tips:

  • Gemini for TV may activate when it hears voices or noises that sound like “Hey Google” or “OK Google.”
  • The hands-free microphone may be located on the TV, on the remote, or on your streamer device. You can also mute the microphone. Refer to your manufacturer's manual.
  • If you have multiple devices that can respond to “Hey Google,” only one of the devices should respond based on your proximity to the device and the volume of your voice, type of request, and capabilities of the device.
Turn on personal results & Voice Match

When you use Gemini for TV, you can get personal results from Google Photos, Google Calendar, and more on your Gemini-enabled TV. Anyone who uses this device can get personal results for the signed-in account, unless you’ve also set up Voice Match on your Google account.

Tips:

Add a TV to Google Home

To use Gemini for TV, your TV must be added to Google Home. On initial setup, you can add your TV to a home. You can change the home at any time on your TV or in the Google Home app.

On your TV:

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Select Accounts & Profiles and then your account and then Google Home.
  3. Select Add TV to Home.

On the Google Home mobile app:

  1. On your device, open the Google Home app Home.
  2. Tap Device and then Device settings and then Home.
  3. To add or move the device, tap Home or Placement.
Add profiles as Home members

To access Gemini for TV, add the TV profile to the same Google Home as the Gemini-enabled device. You can add Google Accounts as Home members in the Google Home mobile app. Learn how to add profiles as Home members.

Gemini for TV doesn't have a specific on or off switch. If your device and Google Account are eligible, you automatically get Gemini for TV. To turn it off, remove the device from Google Home. When you do, you get Google Assistant instead.

Explore TV features built with Gemini

Learn with deep dives

Important: You can only use deep dives:

  • On Gemini-enabled devices
  • In the US
  • If the language is in English

When you want to explore your interests further, use Gemini for a deep dive. It creates narrated visual breakdowns about various educational topics.

  1. Ask a question.
  2. Select Dive deeper.
  3. To explore new topics, at the top of your navigation bar, select Gemini and then Learn.
Get briefs

Important: You can only use news and sports briefs:

  • On Gemini-enabled devices
  • In the US
  • If the language is in English

To keep you updated, use Gemini for TV to get narrated overviews of news and sports. In each brief, you also get suggested YouTube videos for more info.

  • At the top of your navigation bar, select Gemini and then Briefs.
Tip: Gemini for TV doesn’t generate or create new topics. It provides an overview of topics found on Google Search.
Create custom images & videos

Make fun, custom images and videos with Nano Banana and Veo, experimental generative AI features on Google TV.

Important: You can only use Nano Banana for images and Veo for video if:

  • You have Gemini-enabled TCL Google TV devices.
  • You’re in the US.
  • Your language is set to English.
  • You’re 18 or older.
  1. At the top of your navigation bar, select Gemini and then Create.
  2. Select Images or Videos and then Create now.
    • You can use a template or describe your own idea with your voice.
  3. To edit a personal photo, under “Describe what you want to create,” select Add image.
  4. To upload your photo, scan the QR code.
    • After your creation is complete, it’s saved to your “My creations” folder.
      • To download the photo or video to your mobile device: Scan the QR code.
        • When you select Download, anyone with a mobile device can scan the QR code to download the generated creations.
      • To remove a creation: Select the creation and then Delete.

Tip: Daily creation limits apply to photos and videos. Learn more about daily limits.

Search your Google Photos

Important: You can only search your Google Photos if:

  • You have Gemini-enabled devices.
  • You’re in the US.
  • Your language is set to English.
  • You’re 18 or older.
  • You have a Google Photos account.
  • "Personal results" is turned on in Settings.
    • To turn on “Personal results:”
      1. Go to All Settings and then Privacy and then Voice assistant.
      2. Turn on Personal results.

In summer 2026, Google Photos Search will roll out to more countries and languages.

To find specific people or favorite moments in your Google Photos library and see them on your TV:

  1. Press your remote’s microphone.
  2. Ask Gemini to show you specific photos.
  3. Select a photo to view full-screen, start a slideshow, or edit with Google Photos Remix.
Style your photos with Google Photos Remix on Google TV

Google Photos Remix on Google TV is an experimental feature that uses generative AI.

Important: You can only use Google Photos Remix on Google TV if:

  • You have Gemini-enabled devices.
  • You’re in the US.
  • Your language is set to English.
  • You’re 18 or older.
  • You have a Google Photos account.
  • "Personal results" is turned on in Settings.
    • To turn on “Personal results:”
      1. Go to All Settings and then Privacy and then Voice assistant.
      2. Turn on Personal results.

In summer 2026, Google Photos Remix on Google TV will roll out to more countries and languages.

With Google Photos Remix on Google TV, you can easily apply fun, new styles to your photos such as watercolors and oil painting styles.

  1. Press your remote’s microphone.
  2. Ask Gemini to show you specific photos.
  3. Select a photo.
  4. For options, press the down button.
  5. Select Remix.
  6. Choose a style.
  7. Select Generate and then Save to Google Photos.

Tip: Limits apply to the number of photos and videos you can create daily. Learn more about daily limits.

Daily limits

The number of photos and videos that you can create each day depends on your Google AI membership plan. If you reach your daily limit and want to produce more creations, you can upgrade your Google AI plan to unlock more generations. Learn how to upgrade your Google AI plan.

Manage your data

If you turn on Web & App Activity, your interactions with Gemini for TV are saved under “Google Assistant” in your Google Account. You can delete your Google Assistant activity at any time.
