Change the screensaver on Google TV

You can choose what displays on your TV screen when you're not watching anything.

Choose your screensaver

  1. From the Google TV home screen, select Settings Settings and then System and then Ambient mode.
  2. Select Settings and then Source.
  3. Choose what you want to show:
    • Google Photos: Choose photos or albums saved in your Google Photos account.
    • Art gallery: Choose featured photos, fine art, and more.
    • Custom AI Art: Use generative AI to create your own images.

Create a screensaver from Google Photos

You can create a screensaver from your recent highlights, favorite photos, or any Google Photos album.

  1. From the Google TV home screen, select Settings Settings and then System and then Ambient mode.
  2. Select Settings and then Source.
  3. From the list of screensavers, select Google Photos.
  4. Verify your identity. You can:
  5. Select the albums you want to use.
  6. Select Confirm.

Customize settings

  1. From the Google TV home screen, select Settings Settings and then System and then Ambient mode.
  2. Select Settings and then Source.
  3. Under “Google Photos Settings,” you can:
    • Select which Google Photos albums you’d like to display.
    • Choose slideshow modes:
      • Dynamic: Features animations and collages.
        • Dynamic slideshows are only available on eligible Google TV devices globally with at least 2 GB of RAM.
      • Basic: View images full-screen.
    • Turn Curate photos on which lets Google Photos automatically select the best-quality photos for your screensaver.
  4. Under “Slideshow speed,” choose how long a photo stays on the screen.
  5. Under “On-screen Info,” set the following:
    • Time: Choose to show or hide the time.
    • Weather: Choose °C, °F, or both. Weather information is based on:
    • Attribution: Show or hide the owner's name and album name.
    • Device Info: Show or hide connected network and device information.
  6. To open settings while in “Ambient mode,” on your remote, press the Down arrow.

Create a custom AI art screensaver

You can create your own screensaver with generative AI.

  1. From the Google TV home screen, select Settings Settings and then System and then Ambient mode.
  2. From the list of screensavers, select Custom AI Art and then Create new.
  3. Choose how to create your custom AI art:
    • Describe your idea: Describe what you want to create.
      • To use the microphone, on your remote, press and hold the Microphone button.
      • To type, use the on-screen keyboard.
    • Inspire me: Let Google TV create an image for you with generative AI.
    • Suggested templates: Use a suggested template to guide you through the creation process.
  4. Once you create a piece of custom AI art, you can:
    • Use the up and down buttons on your remote to scroll through image variants.
    • Save the image to your image library.
    • Generate a new set of images with the same prompt.
    • Start over with a new prompt.
  5. Once you’ve created your images, select Set all as screensaver.
Delete your custom AI images
  1. From the custom AI art page, select Manage images.
  2. Select the images you want to delete and then Delete.
Report an AI-generated image
  1. After you generate an image, select Feedback.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
