Lowering the impact of shipping
Transportation – including delivery vehicles bringing packages to your doorstep – is the top producer of carbon dioxide emissions in the US.
When you buy on Google, we offset carbon emissions generated from shipping your order to you. This means that for every metric ton of carbon dioxide emitted, we fund external projects that reduce the same number of emissions. Among these projects is the capturing of methane gas generated from landfill waste. We’ve been offsetting emissions since October 2019.

Filter for things you care about
Looking for lip balm or shampoo that’s made of organic ingredients or without animal testing? When you search Google Shopping, apply the “organic” or “cruelty-free” filters to narrow down your results. You can also find the green leaf icon on a product’s details page.
A zero-plastic packaging option for stores
Today only 9% of plastic produced is actually recycled, with the vast majority simply tossed or piling up in landfills. In addition, 40% of all plastic produced goes into single-use packaging.
To lower the amount of plastic used in shipments, we’ve made ecological packaging by The Sustainable Suite available to stores on Google Shopping.
