Manage duplicate subscriptions

We offer several paid membership options for YouTube and Google Play Music so that you can decide which experience is right for you. After upgrading or switching from one membership option to another, you may find that you're getting double billed. Some of our paid membership options automatically give you access to other subscriptions too, so you may be able to save money by cancelling the lower-tier subscription.

Learn how each paid membership relates to the others, and how to fix or prevent a dual subscription.

How to fix a duplicate subscription

If you're being billed for two memberships, you most likely need to cancel the original subscription that you had (before you upgraded). This most commonly happens when you upgrade from Google Play Music to YouTube Premium. Or if you have a YouTube membership that you signed up for on iTunes and then signed up for another one on your computer, directly with YouTube.

If you switched from Google Play Music to YouTube Premium: You may be able to save money by cancelling your Google Play Music subscription, which is already included in your YouTube Premium membership. Your membership to Google Play Music is not automatically cancelled when you sign up for YouTube Premium or a YouTube Premium trial. Cancelling your Google Play Music subscription will not impact your music library or other features; it will only cancel your billing.

If you accidentally signed up for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium: You may be able to save money by cancelling your YouTube Music membership because it's included in your YouTube Premium membership. If you signed up for YouTube Music Premium with Apple, cancel your membership through iTunes. If you signed up with YouTube, learn how to cancel your membership.
