When you start using Google Play Music, we’ll ask if you want to turn on location-based recommendations. This helps Google Play Music offer you personalized music recommendations based on where you are. You can adjust your location-based settings to turn them on or off.
Adjust your location-based settings
Android devices using version 6.0 or above
Turn on location-based recommendations
- Open the Google Play Music app.
- Select the menu
> Settings.
- Under “Privacy & location,” tap Location History.
- Make sure Location History is turned on for your account.
Note: You may also need to enable location permissions for Google Play Music. Navigate to your device's Settings > Apps > Google Play Music > Permissions, and make sure location permissions are enabled.
Turn off location-based recommendations
- Open the Google Play Music app.
- Select the menu
and tap Settings.
- Under “Privacy & location,” tap Location History.
- Make sure Location History is turned off for your account.
Note: You can also turn off location-based recommendations by disabling location permissions for Google Play Music. Navigate to your device's Settings > Apps > Google Play Music > Permissions, and make sure location permissions are disabled.
