Open a mini music player on Chrome

When you download Google Play Music for Chrome, you can use a mini player to get instant access to your music controls.

Tip: Make sure you're signed in to Chrome using the same Google account you use with Google Play Music.

Open the mini player

  1. Open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Go to Google Play Music.
  3. Select and play music.
  4. Near the bottom right of your screen, select the arrow icon Google Play Music for Chrome Web Pop Out icon.

Use the mini player controls

Using the mini player controls, you can easily play and pause songs, skip forward or backward, rate music, and shuffle or repeat songs. For more tips, select an option below.

Keep the mini player visible when you're using other programs
  1. Hover over the mini player.
  2. In the top right corner, click Menu More.
  3. Check the box next to Always on top.
Listen to a personalized mix

To listen to an "I'm feeling lucky" personalized station or mix based on your listening history:

  1. Hover over the mini player.
  2. Click the "I'm feeling lucky" icon I.
Use keyboard shortcuts

To view available keyboard shortcuts:

  1. When you have the Google Play Music web player selected, type a ?. To make a ?, press and hold the Shift and / keys.
  2. Review the screen that appears. The shortcuts listed will also work on your mini music player.

Keep in mind:

  • When you close Google Play Music in your browser window, music will stop playing in the mini player. To keep playing music, keep both the browser window and the mini player open.
  • As you listen to music in your queue, your mini player and browser window will both show the song you're playing.
