Create and update music playlists

You can add, reorder, and remove songs, albums, and playlists through the Google Play Music app or the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music). You can add up to 1,000 songs to a playlist.

Create a playlist or add to an existing playlist

Subscribers: Subscribers can add purchased, uploaded, or subscription tracks to playlists.

Non-subscribers: Non-subscribers can add purchased or uploaded music to playlists.

On your mobile device
  1. Open the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  2. Next to an album or song, tap More More Menu > Add to playlist.
  3. Tap New playlist or an existing playlist name.
On your computer

Add a song or album

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Hover over a song or album and select More More Menu > Add to Playlist.
  3. Select New playlist or an existing playlist name.

Add multiple songs at once

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Select a song.
  3. Press and hold the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) key.
  4. Select the songs you want to add.
  5. Near the top of your screen, select More More > Add to Playlist.
  6. Select New playlist or an existing playlist name.

Add a range of songs at once

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Select a song.
  3. Press and hold the Shift key.
  4. Select the last song you want to add.
  5. Near the top of your screen, select More More > Add to Playlist.
  6. Select New playlist or an existing playlist name.

Remove, reorder, or delete songs or full playlists

On your mobile device

Remove a song from a playlist

  1. Open the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  2. Tap Library at the bottom of the screen. 
  3. Swipe to the "Playlists" menu.
  4. Tap the playlist you'd like to change.
  5. On a song you'd like to remove, swipe left. Tap Delete.

Rearrange a song inside a playlist

  1. Open the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  2. Tap Library at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Swipe to the "Playlists" menu.
  4. Tap the playlist you'd like to change.
  5. Next to the playlist title, tap More More > Edit playlist.
  6. For the song you'd like to move, touch and hold the lines next to the song title to drag it to your desired position.

Delete a playlist

  1. Open the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  2. Tap Library at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Swipe to the "Playlists" menu.
  4. On the playlist you'd like to delete, tap More More > Delete.
On your computer

Remove a song from a playlist

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Select Menu Google Play Music Menu icon > Music library > Playlists.
  3. Select the playlist you'd like to change.
  4. Hover over the song you want to remove and select More More > Remove from playlist.

Rearrange a song inside a playlist

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Select Menu Google Play Music Menu icon > Music library > Playlists.
  3. Select the playlist you'd like to change.
  4. Select and drag a song to your desired position.

Delete a playlist

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Select Menu Google Play Music Menu icon > Music library > Playlists.
  3. Hover over the playlist you'd like to change.
  4. Select More More > Delete playlist.

Find your playlists

On your mobile device
  1. Open the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  2. Tap Library at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Swipe to the "Playlists" menu.
On your computer
  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player (play.google.com/music).
  2. Select Menu Google Play Music Menu icon > Music library > Playlists.
