Use Play Music on mobile or computer
You can find and listen to music with the Google Play Music web player or the Google Play Music app.
Google Play Music streaming quality (bit rate) depends on the speed of your Internet connection. If you have a faster connection, you can play music at up to 320 Kbps.
Use the menu for each song or album
To get started with Google Play Music:
- Select a song or album name for details.
- Select More
. If you're on the web player, point at a song or album to see it.
- Your options include:
- Download: Download music to your device for when you don't have an Internet connection.
- Share: Share music in your Google Play library.
- Add to playlist: Add an album or song to a new or existing playlist.
Set up your music preferences
If you haven't already, you can improve your recommendations on Google Play Music by telling us about your favorite genres and artists.
On your Home screen, you’ll see music based on what you’ve listened to, bought on Google Play, and liked.
- Open the Google Play Music web player or the Google Play Music app

- Select Menu
Home.
You can like or dislike songs to tell Google Play what you want to hear.
- Songs you’ve liked show up in your Thumbs up auto-playlist.
- Songs you’ve disliked won’t be recommended to you anymore.
Rate a song
- Point at the song you want to rate.
- Tap Thumbs up or thumbs down
.
- Select Select again to change the rating.
Rate more than one song
- Press and hold the Ctrl (PC) or Command (Mac) key.
- Select the songs you'd like to rate, or the first and last song in a range.
- At the top of your screen, select More
.
- Tap Thumbs up or thumbs down
.
- To remove the rating, select Delete
.

Rate a song
- Open the Google Play Music app

- Select a song.
- Tap the song name at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Thumbs up or thumbs down
. Tap again to change the rating.
Find your Thumbs-up auto-playlist
- Open the Google Play Music app
.
- Android: Tap Menu
Music library.
- iPhone or iPad: At the bottom, tap Library.
- Android: Tap Menu
- Swipe to the "Playlists" menu.
Control your music
To view available keyboard shortcuts:
- Open the Google Play Music web player.
- When you're viewing the web player window, press Shift + /.
When music is playing on your phone, you'll see a music card on your watch. You can pause, play, and skip tracks. You can't turn off this card.
