Google Play - Cannot change country, Account \ Country and profiles only shows 'old' country. 0 Recommended Answers 4 Replies 371 Upvotes
I'm trying to update my Play store country, having moved from the UK to Germany - I've been here for years, but I just never had a reason to change the store until now. The problem is the Play store only shows my UK account in 'Account' \ 'Country and profiles'. I am in Germany, with German mobile/data and with access German Wifi, so my IP address is definitely in country.
What I've done so far:
I've done what is listed in the official "change your google play country" guide. But there is only UK listed, so no option to change. I have not previously changed play store country, so the 'only once per year' change does not apply. I am not part of a Family Library either. I use family link, to manage child accounts, but this is not listed as a reason to block country changed. I have tried to disable/remove this, but there was no change.
I've tried adding a new payment profile for Germany on pay.google.com with a German Paypal account and Germany credit card. So now I have two profiles, the old UK account listed as 'Individual profile for Play' and the German account is listed as 'Individual'. I have changed the address for my google account to my German address. On my UK account, I have no subscriptions, no outstanding balance or credit and the last time I bought something was in 2012 when I actually lived in the UK. So I can't see anything that's blocking the move.
I've obviously searched for solutions and found lots of methods involving clearing the cache / data from Play store, play service etc. but nothing has worked. I have not tried any VPN options as I'm actually in the country I want to access, so they seem to be pointless.
Any help would be appreciated.
