Child's old phone was destroyed but still appears in Family Link. How do I get rid of it?

It seems really dumb, but it appears that once added a device cannot be removed from a Google Account only hidden.

Yup, I'm in the same situation. I'd love to remove it from my child's account, but the device is bricked and won't turn on.

This was a hard one...

  • Login on a computer to your child account.
  • Click on manage account.
  • Then go to security.
  • Find devices and click on  'Manage devices'.
  • Find the device and then from the three dots menu in the upper right part of the screen click on 'Sign out'.

This will move the device to another section. with this the device should not appear any longer in the Family Link Manager.

Carlos, did you log into your child's computer that's locked with Family Link or just into their Google account from another computer?

Elizabeth,

You can login to your child's Google account on any computer you may have. Make sure to log yourself off then using your child's username and password, login to Google Chrome and click on the child's account avatar (pic) in the upper right corner of the browser then click "manage your Google account". Next click "security" on the left side of the screen. Scroll down to "Your Devices" and find the device you want to remove then click the three little vertically stacked dots in top right corner of the box that displays the device you no longer want then select "sign out".

Hope that helps.

If you do a hard reset it will clean the phone/tablet but it will erase all data.

My son had 2 devices, both with the same name. Seems to be impossible to change the name... Any advice on this? Removing it, and adding it back does not help (even after updating the name of the device in the device settings)
