Common questions about using Google Play on Android Wear

What apps from Google Play can I use on my watch?

Not all apps which work with Android phones also work on Android Wear devices.

  • When you browse or search for apps on your Android Wear device, all the apps you see will work on Android Wear.
  • When you use Google Play on the web, not all apps will work on your watch. However, all of the apps in the Android Wear section of the Play Store will work. If you try to install an app from the web and you don’t have the option to install the app on your watch, it’s probably not compatible with Android Wear.

How do I use a different account to download apps

Issues with my PIN

You can use your Google Account PIN number to buy things on your watch. If you don’t already have one, you’ll choose one when you make your first purchase on Android Wear. You may need to complete part of this set up on your mobile device.

If you need, you can change your Google Account PIN.

You’ll choose how often you need to enter your pin the first time you buy something. If you want to change your setting, use the Settings menu:

  1. Go to your Play Store Settings Settings.
  2. Tap Ask for PIN for purchases
  3. Tap the setting you'd like to use.

Use the Play Store on Android Wear with an iPhone

If you use iPhone or iPad, your watch & phone need to be connected to Wi-Fi to use the Play Store. Not all apps are available to iPhone or iPad users.
