Claim gift card rewards

Some gift cards include promotions which give you extra rewards when you redeem the gift card. These rewards can include pieces of digital content, like a movie or book rental, or an in-app item. You receive the reward when you redeem your gift card or promo code. 

Redeem rewards 

To claim a reward, redeem an eligible gift card on the Google Play Store app:

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Payments and subscriptions  Redeem gift code.
4. Enter the code.
5. When you  get a confirmation message that you redeemed the gift card and earned a reward:
   • To claim your reward, tap Get.
   • To use the reward later, tap Not now.

Note: If your reward is an in-app item, you can only claim it when you redeem your gift card using the Play Store app. If you redeem your gift card at play.google.com, the reward will be added to your account but you will have to claim it in the app on your device. See 'View saved rewards' below to find and use gifts on the Play Store app.

To view and use your saved rewards:

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Notifications and offers  Offers.
4. Follow the instructions to use your reward.

Issues when you redeem rewards

In-app item already exists

You can’t redeem rewards for in-app items that you ready have. 

In-app items can include things like a sword that gives you more power in a game, or a key that unlocks more features in an app. 

If you have an item which is the same as your reward, use your existing item before you claim the reward:

Step 1: Use your existing in-app item

1. Open the app or game where you have the in-app item.
2. Use the item.
3. Move on to Step 2. 

Step 2: Use your reward

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Notifications and offers  Offers.
4. Follow the instructions to use your reward.

I redeemed my gift code on my computer

If your reward is an in-app item, you can only claim it when you redeem your gift card using the Play Store app.

If you redeem your gift card on play.google.com, the reward will be added to your account but you will have to claim it in the app on your device.

To see and use your in-app item reward on the app:

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Notifications and offers  Offers.
4. Follow the instructions to use your reward.

I redeemed my gift code from an unsupported device

You can’t claim rewards when redeeming on an unsupported device. 

If you redeem a code from an unsupported device, your gift card balance will be added but the reward will not be added to your account. 

Redeem your code again from a supported device to get your reward:

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Payments and subscriptions  Redeem gift code.
4.  Enter the gift card code.
   • If you get a message that says:  'Congrats! You earned a reward. Get it now!' then the reward was added to your account.
5. Choose when to claim your reward. 
   • To claim your reward now, tap Get.
   • To use the reward later, tap Not now.

I redeemed my gift code on a device on an ineligible operator

You can’t claim rewards unavailable for devices on some operators.

If you redeem a code on a device which uses one of these operators, your gift card balance will be added but the reward will not be added to your account. 

Redeem your code again from a device on a supported operator to get your reward:

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Payments and subscriptions  Redeem gift code.
4.  Enter the gift card code.
   • If you get a message that says:  'Congrats! You earned a reward. Get it now!' then the reward was added to your account.
5. Choose when to claim your reward. 
   • To claim your reward now, tap Get.
   • To use the reward later, tap Not now.

I redeemed my gift code from a country where the reward wasn't available

You can’t claim rewards from a country where rewards aren’t available.

If you redeem a code from such countries, your gift card balance will be added but the reward will not be added to your account. 

Please update your home country in Google Payments and try to redeem your code again:

1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Payments and subscriptions  Redeem gift code.
4.  Enter the gift card code.
   • If you get a message that says:  'Congrats! You earned a reward. Get it now!' then the reward was added to your account.
5. Choose when to claim your reward. 
   • To claim your reward now, tap Get.
   • To use the reward later, tap Not now.
