Contains ads label on Google Play

Look for the “Contains ads” label to know which apps on Google Play contain ads. You'll find the label under the Install button or price.

Contains ads label

Some apps and games in the Play store show ads inside the app. If the developer tells us they've included ads in their app, there will be a "Contains ads” label on the store listing page.

Note: The "Contains ads" label lets you know when you may see ads in an app (such as ads delivered through third party ad networks, display ads, platform-specific ads, and/or banner ads).  However, the “Contains ads” label does not let you know whether an app contains other kinds of commercial content, such as paid product placement, or offers to make in-app purchases or upgrades.

Report a missing "Contains ads" label

While Google may review apps to check for ads, it's up to app developers to make sure apps that contain ads show the "Contains ads" label.

If you see an app that contains ads but doesn't have a label, let us know:

Using the Google Play Store app

  1. On your phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  2. Go to the detail page for an app or game.
  3. At the top right, tap Menu Menu and then Flag as inappropriate and then Other Objection.
  4. Tap Submit.
  5. Write that the "Contains ads" label is missing in your comment.
