Identify songs playing near you

With Sound Search for Google Play, you can find the names of songs playing around you. You can also purchase identified songs on Google Play or save songs to purchase later.

Sound Search is available in select countries on devices running Android 4.0 and higher.

Add Sound Search to your home screen

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  2. Search for "Sound Search for Google Play."
  3. Touch Install.
  4. On your device, touch and hold the home screen.
  5. Touch Widgets.
  6. Swipe to the right or scroll down until you see Sound Search. Touch and hold the What's this song? icon to move it.

Use Sound Search to find music

With the image on your home screen
  1. While a song is playing, touch What's this song?.
  2. To view the song in the Google Play Store, touch the price.
With voice search
  • Say, "OK Google, what song is this?"
  • Touch the mic icon Mic icon. Then ask, "what song is this?"

View your search history

If you're using Android 6.0 and up: To view your search history, go to Google Play Sound Search. You'll see all searches from before you updated to Android 6.0, but new searches won't be saved to your account.

If you're using a version lower than Android 6.0: Follow the instructions below to view your search history.

  1. Next to "What's this song?," touch the clock icon Sound Search clock.
  2. Review your previous searches.
    • To view a song in the Play Store, touch the title.
    • To delete your history, touch the Menu icon Store three-dots menu > Clear all.
