You can purchase apps, digital content, and devices on Google Play using a credit or debit card you've added to Google Wallet.

For select markets and carriers, you can purchase apps and digital content using carrier billing.

Credit or debit cards

You can make purchases in U.S. dollars using any credit, debit or gift card with the following logos:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover

If you’re making a purchase in a currency other than U.S. dollars, you can make purchases using any credit, debit or gift card with the following logos:

  • Visa
  • Visa Electron
  • MasterCard
  • JCB
Direct carrier billing for apps and digital content

Some mobile devices and service plans can used carrier billing to make app and digital content purchases. For more information on using carrier billing on Google Play, contact your mobile service provider for help with:

Note: If you pay with a prepaid card, temporary authorizations on your account may remain for longer periods of time.

If you’re having trouble making a purchase on Google Play with a gift or prepaid card, contact your card issuer to make sure it can be used to purchase digital items. Some gift cards or prepaid cards (with Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover logos) can't be used to purchase digital items.

Note: Google Play gift cards and promotional codes can't be used to purchase devices or subscriptions on Google Play.

Other payment types

Google Wallet can't be used with:

  • Wire transfers
  • Bank transfers
  • Western Union
  • Money Gram
  • Any escrow type of payment.
  • At this time, PayPal can't be used to make purchases on Google Play.
