If you already subscribe to a magazine or newspaper, you may be eligible for a digital subscription on Google Play. Some publishers offer digital subscriptions to existing subscribers and others do not.

Magazines

You can find out if your existing print subscription offers a free digital version using the Google Play Store Google Play Store app.

  1. Open the Google Play Store Google Play Store app.
  2. Search for the magazine and visit its detail page.
  3. Touch Subscribe.

If a For current subscribers option is available, your magazine subscription also gives you access to a digital version on Google Play. To get digital access to the latest issue, select For current subscribers.

Note: Right now, you can only sign up for digital subscriptions through the Google Play Store Google Play Store app.

News

If a news source offers a subscription option on Newsstand, you’ll see a card with subscription options after you open an article. To find out if your existing print subscription offers a free digital version, select Already a subscriber? Activate your account.

Once you've finished the login or print verification process, you will be asked to complete a $0.00 transaction using Google Wallet that will be repeated monthly. Your digital subscription expires when your original print subscription ends.

Troubleshooting subscription verifications

When verifying your subscription, make sure you:

  • Have an active, existing subscription to the magazine or news source.
  • Enter your correct account information.
    • If you need to provide your mailing address, type your name and address exactly as they appear on your print subscription.
