Find the Google Play Store app

You can find your favorite music, movies, books, and Android apps and games using the Google Play Store app.

Google Play Store app on Android devices

The Google Play Store app comes installed on supported mobile devices that run Android OS version 2.2 (Froyo) and above. If you have an older Android device, you’ll use the Android Market app instead of the Google Play Store app to shop.

To find what version of the Android OS your device is running, navigate to Settings > About phone/About tablet and look for Android version

Open the Google Play Store app

To find and open the Google Play Store app, go to the app launcher and touch the Google Play Store Play Store icon.

Missing Google Play Store app

If you don’t see the Google Play Store app or the app doesn’t open:

  • Confirm you’re using a supported Android device.
  • You may have hidden the app and need to re-enable it.
  • Turn off your device and turn it on again, then look for the app.

If the Google Play Store app still isn’t showing up, contact your carrier or manufacturer for help. Unfortunately, you can’t download the Google Play Store app -- you either have it or you don’t.
