If a recurring payment for your subscription is declined, you may enter a grace period. Throughout this time, you can continue to access your subscription benefits while Google Play retries the payment.
Understand customized grace periods
Important: This customization is only applied if you opted in to personalization on Google Play.
For certain apps, Google Play may customize the length of your grace period based on your subscription details and purchase history. These customized grace periods can range from 0 to 30 days.

Learn how your data is used
To determine the most helpful grace period duration for you, Google Play uses specific signals from your account. This includes:
- Subscription duration: The total number of days subscribed and days successfully paid
- Trial and offer history: Whether you signed up for a no cost trial or promotional offer and the length of that offer period
- Current status: Whether your current billing cycle is part of a no cost trial or a special offer period
Understand account hold & recovery
If your payment is still not successful after the grace period ends, your subscription is placed on account hold. During account hold, you lose access to your subscription.
