Seeing error: You haven't accessed the Google Play Store app on your device with this email account

Most of the time, this message appears when you're using your computer to download an app on Google Play (play.google.com) for a new device.

Before you can shop on Google Play from your computer, you need to link your Google Account to your Android device. To link your Google Account to your Android device, sign in to the Google Play Store app on your Android device and download any app.

Step 1: Sign in to the Google Play Store app

  1. Make sure your Android device comes with the Google Play Store app Google Play Store.
  2. Sign in using the same account you're using on your computer (play.google.com).

Note: The Play Store app does not work on an iPhone, iPad, or Kindle.

Step 2: Download an app on your device

Once you are signed in to the Play Store app, download an app. After you've downloaded an app, your device will be linked to your Google Account.

After a few minutes, you can download apps to your device using your computer (play.google.com).

Step 3: Clear your app's data

If you still see the error message after signing in to the Google Play Store app Google Play Store and downloading an app, clear your app's data.

  1. Open your device's main Settings menu.
  2. Select Apps or Application manager. (This may be different depending on your device.)
  3. Select Google Play Store Google Play Store.
  4. Touch Clear data.

  2. If you're already signed in, click the profile picture near the top right of the screen to show which account you're using.
    • If you see a Sign in button near the top right of the screen, click it to sign in to your account.
Check if you're using an older version of Android

If your device is running Android 1.5 (Cupcake), you may not be able to download apps to your device using your computer. You can use the Google Play Store app Google Play Store on your device to get apps.

To find which version of Android you have:

  1. Open your device's main Settings menu.
  2. Scroll down and select About phone or About tablet (depending on your device, this may be located under "System").
  3. Your version will be listed under "Android version."
Using a work or school account?

If you're using a Google Apps account for a business or school that hasn't updated to the new Google Apps infrastructure, you won't be able to download Google Play apps to your device using your computer.

You can still use the Google Play Store app on your device to download apps.
