Update on COVID-19 guidelines

This article was last updated on 25 October 2023 to reflect significant changes to our Health Apps policy.

COVID-19 is no longer considered a global pandemic and we are therefore updating our previous policy requirements for COVID-19-related apps. New or existing COVID-19 apps that contain health-related features or access health data now fall under the new Health apps policy.

If you plan to change your app functionality significantly, such as by adding or removing contact-tracing or status-storing functionalities, then you must alert your users to this (for example, via an in-app notification or an update to the 'What's new' section). You may also consider unpublishing your app from Google Play.
