Manage Play Shorts in Play Console

This feature is only available to select partners.

Starting June 2026, the workflow for uploading and managing Play Shorts is moving from Google Drive directly into the Play Console. This guide explains how to transition to the new console experience, upload new assets, and track their verification status.

This article helps developers manage short-form videos (Play Shorts) directly within Play Console to drive app discoverability and showcase key features.

Important: You must upload and manage all short-form videos directly in Play Console. Do not use Google Drive for new uploads. Any videos previously submitted through Google Drive have been automatically migrated to Play Shorts in Play Console.

Upload Play Shorts

To upload new short-form videos, follow these steps:

1. Open Play Console, select your app, and go to the Play Shorts page (Grow users > Store presence > Play Shorts).
2. Drag your video assets into the window, or click Upload to browse and choose files from your computer.
3. After the raw files upload, configure the assets' metadata:
   • Audio language: Select the primary spoken language in the video.
   • Subtitle language: Select the language of the subtitle tracks.
4. When you're done, click Finished.

Understand verification statuses

After you upload an asset, it goes through two separate verification checks in Play Console, as summarized here:

Remove Play Shorts

To stop an asset from serving, you can unpublish it directly from your dashboard in Play Console.

Note: There might be a two to three-day delay between initiating video unpublishing in Play Console and the point when the video stops serving to users on Google Play. We recommend you plan your content updates accordingly.

To unpublish a short-form video, follow these steps:

1. Open Play Console, select your app, and go to the Play Shorts page (Grow users > Store presence > Play Shorts).
2. From the asset list on the right side of the page, select the video to unpublish. Click Unpublish video.
3. Alternatively, if the video has never been live, you can delete it completely. From the asset list on the right side of the page, select the video to delete, and then click Delete video.
4. When you're done, click Finished.

Availability and eligibility

• Geographic Availability: Play Shorts are currently available only in the United States. You can upload assets targeting other regions, but they will not display to users until Play Shorts becomes available in those regions.
• Eligibility: Program access is limited to a select number of partners.
