Update developer identity details managed by a Google payments profile

This guide explains how account owners can update the developer identity details managed by their Google payments profile. The Google Play Console uses a Google payments profile to verify the legal name and address of all developer accounts. You configure this profile when creating a developer account. Before updating your details, ensure you have the necessary identity documents or organization details ready.

Over time, you may want to update these details—for example, if your address changes or your name is updated. You can make these edits by updating your existing payments profile. However, you can't update some details, such as the country, account type (organization or individual), and D-U-N-S number (for organization accounts), on an existing payments profile. To change these details, you need to create a new payments profile, provide the required information, verify your details, and then link the verified profile to your developer account. Both processes are available to account owners in the Play Console under About you (Developer accountAbout you).

If you monetize your apps, you also set up a payments profile when creating your merchant account. Don't confuse this with the payments profile used for identity verification. Some developers who monetize use the same payment profile for both identity verification and their merchant account, whereas others use different ones. This page covers updating your identity details, which might not be the same as your merchant details.

Updating your name or address in Play Console (same country)

To change your name or address, update the existing payments profile linked to your developer account. Only the account owner can trigger this flow from the Play Console.

  1. Go to your Play Console account.
  2. Navigate to About you (Developer accountAbout you).
  3. Click Update details (or Update organization details for organization accounts).
  4. Click Go to Google Payments Center.
  5. Find the field you want to edit (for example, "Name" or "Address").
  6. Enter the new information.
  7. Click Save.

To complete the update, you might need to upload identity documents.

Update your country or D-U-N-S number

To update your country or D-U-N-S number, the account owner needs to configure, verify, and then link a new payments profile within the Play Console.

  1. Go to your Play Console account.
  2. Navigate to About you (Developer account > About you).
  3. Click Update details (or Update organization details for organization accounts).
  4. Click Create or Select payments profile.
  5. If you already have a payments profile with your updated details, select it and click Continue. To create a new one, click Create new payments profile.
    • Organization accounts: You're required to enter your organization's D-U-N-S number when creating the payments profile.
    • Government organizations and agencies: Verification without a D-U-N-S number may be available. If this option isn't present and you want to verify without providing a D-U-N-S number, contact support through the Help section in your Play Console account, or the online form if you don’t have access to Play Console.
  6. Verify your identity, if required. After saving your payments profile, you might need to verify your legal name and address. For more details about the process, see Verify your developer identity information.
    • The Account details page shows the verification progress and any necessary actions. This is where you upload any requested documents.
    • You receive the review outcome by email after submitting documents.
    • Once the payments profile is verified, the account owner must link it to the developer account.
  7. Navigate to About you (Developer account > About you) and click Link your payments profile to your developer account.
  8. To update your developer account with the new payments profile, click Confirm and save.

Convert a personal developer account to an organization account

To convert your individual developer account to an organization account, the account owner must set up an organizational payments profile and provide extra account details in the Play Console.

  1. Go to your Play Console account.
  2. Navigate to About you (Developer account > About you). Before changing your account type, you need to provide and verify your official organization website. For more information on verification, see Verifying your website. After entering and saving your website, remember to click Send verification request. Once your website is verified, the option to update your account type becomes available.
  3. Click Change account type.
  4. Click Create or Select payments profile.
  5. If you already have an existing payments profile with your organization’s information, select it and click Continue. Otherwise, click Create new payments profile. When creating a new payments profile, you must provide your organization's D-U-N-S number. Verification without a D-U-N-S number might be possible for government organizations or agencies. If this option isn't available and you need to verify without a D-U-N-S number, contact support.
  6. Provide the following organization details:
    • Organization type:
      • Company/business
      • Non-profit
      • Academic institution
      • Government
    • Organization size:
      • 1-10
      • 11-50
      • 51-100
      • 101-1000
      • Over 1,000 employees
    • Organization phone number
  7. Provide contact details, including the following:
    • Used by Google to contact you: A contact email address and phone number (Google verifies each with a one-time password).
    • Displayed on Google Play for users to contact you: A developer email address and phone number that will appear on your app's store listing pages (each will be verified with a one-time password).
  8. Verify your identity, if necessary. After saving your payments profile, you may be required to verify your organization's legal name and address. For more information about this process, see Verify your developer identity information. The Account details page displays the verification status and any actions you need to take, including uploading requested documents. You will receive the review outcome by email after submitting your documents. Once the payment profile is verified, the account owner can finalize the switch.
  9. Go to About you (Developer accountAbout you) and click Link your payments profile to your developer account.
  10. To complete the transition of your developer account to an organization account, click Confirm and Save.

Note: To ensure your account details sync correctly and to avoid redundant app rejections, wait at least 72 hours after the transition is complete before you submit any new apps. This waiting period allows Google Play's systems to finish processing your account type change.

You can't change the account type from an organization to an individual account. If you want an individual developer account, you must create a new developer account. After verifying the new account, you can transfer your apps to it.
