Create events to plan and simplify your launches

Note: The features described on this page are currently only available to select Play partners.

You can create events to help Google understand your game launch plans on Google Play. This makes your launch easier to create, track, and promote, and means your app is more likely to be promoted. Creating events doesn't affect when your app is released to pre-registration, open testing, or production.

Using Launch planning to create an event

Starting October 2022, the Launch planning page, from which you can create and view events, will be available in Play Console to select Play partners. There are no prerequisites to creating an event. Select events will be eligible for promotion support.

Tip: We recommend creating an event as far in advance as possible, with the most accurate information you can provide at that time. You can always return to and edit an event that hasn't occurred yet if some of your launch plans change. For example, if your launch date changes, or the countries/regions you want to launch in, you can edit the event accordingly.

Create and view events

To create an event:

  1. Go to the Launch planning page (Grow > Store presence > Launch planning)
  2. Click Create events.
  3. Select an estimated or actual start date and your time zone. This is the date you think you will launch your release (you can change this later if needed).
  4. Enter an event name (this is just for your reference and cannot be seen by users).
  5. Select an event type. You can choose Open testing, Pre-registration, or Production. This is for planning only. Creating events doesn't affect when your app is released to pre-registration, open testing, or production. This can't be edited once the event is created.
  6. Choose the countries/regions the release will be available in.
  7. Click Save.

After saving an event, it's listed with your other existing events on the Launch planning page. The page lists all events chronologically, and displays event details like event type, county/region and  launch status. You can sort the events to see newest first or oldest first
