Pixel Watch 2 screen burn in?

Hey all, got my watch and p8p on Thursday, been running the watch with AOD since then just asa method to see the battery life, when pressing the crown to go through my apps, on the right side, using the "everyday" watch face, I see ghostingnof the weather ring on the app page.

I can't imagine having burn in after about 72 hours of use.. Any thoughts?

Hello folks,

I know it's been awhile, and we're sorry for the inconvenience.

To everyone who is experiencing the screen issue, we appreciate you all flagging this. Our team is aware, and this should be mitigated in the future in a later Pixel Watch app update. In the meantime, please try to switch to a different watch face and check the watch after 24 hours. Disabling the AOD can also be helpful. Also, we'll keep everyone updated for any additional information, and don't hesitate to give us a shout for any questions.

Thanks for keeping an eye on this thread, @justIvan.

Regards,
Mark

For everyone that's seeing image retention / possible burn in - try turning on theatre mode for a few hours to make sure display is off. Please report your findings. If you're still seeing image retention after this, please let us know how many hours you've switched to theater mode.

Seems that there's a high possibility that they've forgot to ship the display burn-in protection functionality with the Pixel watch 2 retail units as when I try to force it on in the developer settings it won't turn on at all.
Contact support and get your damaged displays returned and hope that they remedy this before receiving your new units.
The full support session where they make sure it's not a software issue will take about 1.5h of your time where you'll have to restart, hard restart, reset and reset from recovery your pixel watch, after that if the issue still persists, they'll email you a return slip and they'll ship a new device after they've received your device.

I'll probably have to re-return my replacement device as this is most definitely burn-in and not just image retention on my display. And I've only used my device for 3 days.

Same problem here. I've had it since launch day and just noticed a couple of days ago that there was retention/burn in. I've had AOD off for 2 days now and it's still visible. Looks more like burn in than retention. That isn't good.

Hey everyone. For those that are still having the issues, can you try the following?

  1. If you're using Always on display (AOD), turn the feature off or use bedtime mode so the screen stays off overnight
  2. Change watch face to Digital Bold and wait 24-48 hours and see if the issue is resolved

Please give it a shot and let us know your findings.

I tried doing that with my initial watch that I purchased, but the burn-in remained even when the display was turned off for long periods of time and using a completely different watchface for 5 days.
I've since had a warranty replacement, but the same burn-in issues plague the second unit as well.

I highly recommend everybody just to contact support and getting a replacement if this bothers you even a tiny bit. This is not normal device behavior and as a paying customer you have rights for a issue free experience.

This is _not_ a BETA product and there isn't any excuses for your device for show these kinds of issues after a month of usage.

As I've mentioned elsewhere in this comment chain, the image retention has gone away for me after trying the suggestions you mentioned. However, this leaves me with a watch that cannot be used the way it was advertised (always on display) without risking further damage to the screen.

Should I return the device if I do not like the fact that I cannot use the always-on-display feature, or wait for it to hopefully be fixed?

Has Google put out any official answer as to whether they consider this an actual issue and are working on a fix?

It would be nice to know what if anything is being done besides telling us not to use certain features/faces. Thanks

Any update on this issue? I'm still unable to use Always-on-display with the Pixel Watch 2 due to this based on the recommendation here.
