Access Gemini with just the raise of your wrist on your Pixel Watch 4. This provides a hands-free experience to interact with Gemini, without the need to use hotwords or buttons. Learn more about Gemini on Google Pixel Watch.
Important: This feature is only available for Google Pixel Watch 4 with Wear 6+, with a compatible Google Pixel 9 and later, and with Gemini set as their default assistant.
Turn Raise to Talk on or off
Raise to Talk is turned off by default, but can be turned on in your settings.
In your Pixel Watch app

Activate Gemini with Raise to Talk
- Bring your Pixel Watch 4 to about 2-4 inches from your mouth.
- Here are scenarios to activate Gemini based on your posture.
- Standing: From your arm resting on the side, raise your watch to approximately 2-4 inches away from your mouth.
- Sitting: Raise your watch from arm rest, table top, keyboard, etc. to 2-4 inches from your mouth.
- Tip: Raise your hand close to your mouth as if you are speaking into a walkie talkie and speak after the visual indicator comes up.
- Important: Gemini may not be triggered in scenarios such as:
- The watch is off-wrist or locked.
- The watch is in Bedtime or Theatre mode.
- The watch mic is in use for recorder, gBoard, Search voice input.
- You are in an active phone call.
- A fall has just been detected.
- Here are scenarios to activate Gemini based on your posture.
- Check for the indicator. A curved line appears on the bottom of the watch face when the watch is ready for your voice input.
- Tip: Your watch will not trigger Gemini if you speak after the indicator disappears. While Raise to Talk works on most watch surfaces, the status indicator is currently only displayed on the watch face.
- Start speaking naturally, at your regular volume, within 2 seconds after the indicator appears. Keep your watch close to your mouth for the best speech accuracy.
Cancel activation
If activated by mistake, press a button or interact with your watch to cancel the prompt. There’s also a timeout if no speech or sound is heard.
- Lower your arm: Bring your arm down. The watch detects this movement and cancels the prompt.
- Press a button: Use a physical button on your watch, such as the Power Button.
- Tap or swipe the screen: Interact with the display to also cancel the voice command.
- Cover with your palm: Place your palm over the watch face to turn off the screen and stop the command.
Raise-to-Talk also cancels itself if it doesn't detect speech or any sound within a specific time frame.
- 1-second timeout: If no sound is detected.
- 2-second timeout: If your Pixel Watch didn’t detect any speech from you.
Adjust sensitivity settings
You can adjust the sensitivity of both the raise gesture and voice recognition.
In your Pixel Watch app
- Open the Google Pixel Watch app

- Adjust settings to choose your preferred sensitivity levels.
- Gesture Sensitivity is set to level 2 by default.
- Higher levels make the gesture easier to recognize, but this can lead to activating by mistake.
- Lower levels make the gesture harder to recognize, which reduces the chance of activating by mistake.
- Voice Sensitivity is set to level 3 by default.
- Higher levels make it easier for the watch to pick up your voice to activate Gemini, but this can lead to activating by mistake.
- Lower levels make it harder for the watch to pick up your voice to activate Gemini, which reduces the chance of activating by mistake.
- Visual Indicator is turned on by default but can be turned off.
