Save power and extend battery life for Google Pixel Watch

Battery life

A fully charged Pixel Watch 2 battery lasts up to 24 hours with Always-on Display feature turned on.1

A fully charged Pixel Watch battery lasts up to 24 hours with the Always-on Display feature turned off.

Battery life may differ based on things like your usage, mobile network, or signal strength.

Battery life and high impact usage

The up to 24 hour battery life for both watches is based on the following usage:

  • 240 notifications
  • 280 time checks
  • A 5 minute of LTE phone call
  • 45 minutes of LTE and GPS workout with downloaded YouTube music playback
  • 50 minutes of navigation (Google Maps) while connected to a phone via Bluetooth®️
  • (For Pixel Watch 2 only) 7 hours sleep with Bedtime mode
  • (For Pixel Watch 2 only) Always-on display turned on

Save power and extend battery life

Turn OFF settings that can drain battery

Always-on Display

The Always-on Display feature prevents the watch screen from going dark even when you're not using it. To extend watch battery life on Pixel Watch (1st gen only), turn this feature off.

Note: Pixel Watch comes with the Always-on Display setting turned off by default.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Display and then turn off "Always-on Display".

Tilt-to-wake

The Tilt-to-wake setting wakes up your watch screen when you raise your wrist to look at the watch. To extend watch battery life, turn this feature off.

Note: Pixel Watch comes with the Tilt-to-wake setting turned off by default.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Gestures and then turn off "Tilt-to-wake".

Mobile Mode (for cellular LTE connections only)

If your watch is losing its charge too quickly when connected to a cellular network, extend it by setting the Mobile Mode to Automatic (only connects to cellular radio when there is no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity) or Off (cellular radio completely off).

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Connectivity and then Mobile and then Mobile.
  3. Tap Automatic or Off.

Note: When your phone is both offline and Mobile Mode is Off, you won't be able to use certain features like making a phone call.

Turn ON settings that conserve battery

Battery saver

Note: If Battery saver is on, both the "Always-on Display" and "Tilt-to-wake" settings will turn off.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Battery .
  3. Turn on "Battery saver".
  4. Tap OK.

Full Doze mode

This feature is not available for Pixel Watch LTE with an activated Verizon cellular plan.

Full Doze Mode automatically turns off the Pixel Watch screen and all modem radios (LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) if:

  • you're not wearing the watch.
  • the watch isn't charging.
  • the watch has been inactive for 10 minutes.

Note: When Full Doze mode is on, network access and features like Find My Device won't work or receive updates.

Bedtime mode

Turn on Bedtime mode to reduce battery drainage and silence notifications and other interruptions while you sleep. Connectivity will be restricted while in Bedtime Mode.

GPS

  1. On Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Location and then Google Location Accuracy and then turn on Improve location accuracy.

Note: Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 have 8-10 hours of battery life with continuous GPS use.

Other tips to maximize battery life

Reduce screen timeout period

Save battery life by setting up a screen timeout period that puts your watch screen to sleep after a set amount of time or inactivity. Set a shorter timeout period so your watch goes to sleep more frequently when you're not using it.

  1. On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Display and then Screen timeout.
  3. Select a faster timeout.
    1. For example: Select 10 seconds instead of 30 seconds (15 seconds for Pixel Watch 2).

Download music

Streaming music can drain batteries faster. Instead, download music on Google Pixel Watch.

Maximum battery life is approximate and is based on testing conducted in California in mid 2023 on pre-production hardware and software, using default settings with a median Pixel user battery usage profile across a mix of talk, data, standby, and use of other features. Battery life depends on features enabled, usage, environment and many other factors. Use of certain features will decrease battery life. Actual battery life may be lower.
