Charge Google Pixel Watch and tips to improve battery life

A full battery for Google Pixel Watch goes all day with a charge that lasts up to 24 hours to support sleep tracking and other features. Google Pixel Watch comes equipped with settings to maintain for and help extend battery life2.

Charge Google Pixel Watch

  1. Plug the Google Pixel Watch USB-C Magnetic Charging Cable (included with Google Pixel Watch) into a power source1.
  2. Place your Pixel Watch on the magnetic charging cable so the 4 points on the back align with the 4 corresponding pins on the charger. The watch's crown should face in the same direction as the cable extending from the charger.
  3. The Google Pixel Watch screen will wake up and you will see the charge percent, date, and time, to indicate that your Google Pixel Watch is charging. Refer to Fix a Google Pixel Watch that won't charge for more information on charging time.

Watch won't charge

If Google Pixel Watch has not been charging, the cause could be:

  • Improper connection to the charger.
    • After several seconds of an improper charger connection, you should receive a notification on your watch. Remove and replace the watch to fix this issue.

Important:

  • Google Pixel Watch can only be charged using the supplied Google Pixel Watch Magnetic Charging Cable. Using different chargers might not work or could damage the watch.
  • Reverse wireless charging from Pixel phones is not supported.
  • Check that the crown is aligned with the charging cable and that the 4 charging pins on the charger are aligned with the 4 contacts on the back of the watch.

Extend battery life

Battery Defender

If your Google Pixel Watch stays plugged into its charger for 4 days or longer, Battery Defender will pause charging to protect the battery. If your Google Pixel Watch remains at 80% or less, you may have Battery Defender on. When it activates, you should see a notification when waking or picking up the Google Pixel Watch from the charger. To continue charging further than 80%, remove the watch from the charger and then place it back.

Battery Saver

You can turn on Battery Saver when your Google Pixel Watch battery gets low. Battery saver mode automatically turn on when your battery reaches 15%.

Note: Battery Saver mode disables the always-on display but keeps tilt-to-wake enabled. Background activity is limited, and notifications might be delayed.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Battery .
  3. Turn on "Battery saver".
  4. Tap OK.

Battery Saver mode allows you to:

  • Maximize your battery life while maintaining key health and fitness tracking.
  • Maximize your battery life with uninterrupted safety features.
  • Preserves your battery life by temporarily disabling features like Always-on Display and background activity.

Important: Google Pixel Watch 3 Battery Saver mode can maximize your watch’s battery life for up to 36 hours from 100% state of charge, depending on how you use it. This includes activities like:

  • Checking emails and social media occasionally (on-demand connectivity)
  • Receiving notifications
  • Checking the time
  • Making calls
  • Using GPS during workouts (without music)

Tilt-to-wake

The Tilt-to-wake feature wakes your display when you tilt Google Pixel Watch. To extend watch battery life, you can turn this feature off.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Gestures and then turn off "Tilt-to-wake".

Bedtime mode

Turn on Bedtime mode for less battery drainage and minimal interruptions overnight when you wear the watch for sleep tracking.

Auto Bedtime mode

Automatically turns on Bedtime mode based on your detected sleep. When Bedtime Mode is on, watch screen, Tilt- to- Wake and touch will be turned off. Only alarms, priority and repeat callers will notify you.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch and then tap Do Not Disturb .
  2. Tap the Toggle to turn Auto- Bedtime on or off.

GPS

Enable Google Location Accuracy for the most power-efficient location information.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Location and then Google Location Accuracy and then turn on Improve location accuracy.

Note: Google Pixel Watch has 8-10 hours of battery life with continuous GPS use.

Mobile Mode (LTE only)

Google Pixel Watch LTE supports cellular radio connectivity when you have the watch's eSIM activated. If your Google Pixel Watch is losing charge too quickly when connected to the network, extend the battery by setting Mobile Mode to Automatic or Off.

Automatic: Only connect to cellular radio when there is no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity.

Off: Completely turn off the cellular radio.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Connectivity and then Mobile and then Mobile.
  3. Choose between Automatic or Off.

Note: When your phone is offline and Mobile is Off, you won't be able to use some features like making a phone call.

Adjust screen timeout settings

Save battery by changing how fast your watch face goes to sleep.

  1. On your Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Display and then Screen timeout.
  3. Select a faster timeout.

2 Maximum battery life is approximate and is based on testing conducted in California in 2024 on pre-production hardware and software, using default settings with a median Pixel user battery usage profile across a mix of talk, data, standby, and use of other features. Battery life depends on features enabled, usage, environment and many other factors. Use of certain features will decrease battery life. Actual battery life may be lower.
