Adjust how sensitive Google Assistant is to “Hey Google”

You can control how sensitive Google Assistant is to voice commands like 'Hey Google'.

Google Assistant might activate when you don't say 'Hey Google'. This can happen when it detects something that sounds similar or you manually activate your device accidentally. If this happens often, you can make it less sensitive.

Also, Google Assistant might not activate when you say “Hey Google”, particularly in a noisy environment. If this happens often, you can make it more sensitive.

Important: The sensitivity setting doesn’t affect which device is used when you have more than one Google Assistant device. Google chooses the best device to respond to your request. Learn how Assistant responds on your preferred devices.

Where the sensitivity setting is available

This feature is available on most speakers and smart displays but only in some languages.

Home members can change the sensitivity settings for a device.
