Copy data from an iPhone or Android device to a Pixel Tablet

In just a few steps, you can copy your data from your previous device, like an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone, to your Pixel Tablet.

Copy from an iPhone or iPad to a Pixel Tablet

Copy data from your iPhone or iPad to your new Pixel Tablet in a few steps.

Step 1. Get ready to set up your new Pixel Tablet

Make sure you have the following items:

  • Fully charged iPhone or iPad
  • New, charged Pixel Tablet
  • Good Wi-Fi connection

Important: A Google Account is recommended. You need one to download apps, and some content won't copy to your Pixel Tablet without one.

Step 2. Start Pixel Tablet setup

You're ready to set up your new tablet:

  1. Turn on your Pixel Tablet and then tap Get started.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Important: You need to be connected to a network for data to copy from your iPhone or iPad.

Step 3. Connect your devices

  1. During Pixel Tablet setup, when you're prompted to copy your apps and data, tap Next.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions:
    1. Turn on and unlock your iPhone or iPad.
    2. Connect the 2 devices with the charging cable that came with your iPhone or iPad.
      • If you don't have a cable, tap No cable? to transfer your data wirelessly and then scan the QR code with your old iPhone or iPad during setup to download the Switch to Android app. Wireless transfer doesn't support as many types of data, so use a cable if you have one.
      • If the cable doesn't fit, you might need to use a USB-C to A adapter (sold separately).
  3. On your iPhone or iPad, confirm the connection.
  4. On your Pixel Tablet, sign in to your Google Account and then tap Next.

Important: When you copy data with a cable, you can choose which of your videos, contacts, calendar, and music to copy to the new device.

Step 4. Copy your data

The copy process can take anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour. While you wait, you can manage other settings, like Fingerprint Unlock or Google Assistant. To set them up later, tap Skip.

  1. Uncheck the box next to any type of data you don't want to transfer and then tap Copy and then Continue.
  2. After your data is copied to your new Pixel Tablet, tap Done for now.
