Pixel Buds 2 Audio Cutouts
0
Hey everyone/Google,

I just got a replacement pair of Pixel Buds 2 (first pair had an unresolvable issue where the left bud would no longer pair) and I am experiencing very frequent audio glitches. The phone is right in front of me and I'm not moving my head or anything. It just happens every few minutes or so. I have reset them multiple times and reset my phone multiple times. Frustrated that this is now my second pair with new issues. Has anyone had troubleshooting luck? Or is Google coming out with an update to fix these issues? Love the buds themselves with the sounds and controls but these interruptions make it hard to enjoy. Thanks in advance 👌

Hi Timothy,

Do these cutouts occur at regular intervals - say, every 1 minute and 50 seconds or so? If so, that's a known issue which has started popping up in about the last 6 weeks. Google is aware of the problem and should be pushing a fix soon.

We're expecting the first Feature Drop update to show up sometime this month, and I'm hoping that it will include fixes for this and other problems. In the meantime, some users have found that deliberately switching which Bud they remove from the case first might help to mitigate the cutouts to some extent - so if you usually pull the left out first, try removing the right first to see if that has any effect.

Cheers,
John

Myself as well. No change after this recent update/feature drop.

Hi Chad,

I'm sorry to hear that. If you haven't already, please check to see if performing a factory reset after installing the 550 update makes any difference:

If the problems continue then I'd encourage you to reach out to support:

Yes, unfortunately I tried that and it didn't make a difference. It's such a strange issue that nobody out there has a solution to as of yet. Hopefully soon. I've only had them a day and would love it if they would work properly.

I just bought a pair of pixel buds for my wife and they are doing the same exact thing. However, if she is cleaning or out for a run, forget it. They will cut out more than she will hear the audio themselves. What do I do?

I think I found the solution to the audio cut out issue on the pixel buds, especially where the audio cut out every 1:50 minutes.

I tried putting my right pixel bud first and play some music for a few seconds and then put on my left bud, it seems to solve the audio cut out problem that happens every 1:50 minutes. So far no audio cut out for me.........

Not sure why but Google needs to investigate this further.......

They need to keep investigating because:

A) Intentionally sequencing bud insertion isn't a fix, it's a work around.

And

B) You will get significantly higher battery drain on that first bud over their full 5 hr rated life. This workaround cuts it down to about 3-3.5 hours actually.

Did my trick work on your pixel buds? Anymore audio cut? Why would I put one bud in first for a few seconds before the second bud would drain the battery faster? Please share your findings? Thanks

@Martin any improvement from those steps is a temporary workaround and not a fix. Only one Bud connects to the phone, the other Bud connects to that first Bud - which means the first Bud drains its battery more quickly than the second. The cutouts seem to happen when the right Bud is the "primary" so forcing the left to be primary can get around the problem for a time - but the Buds will eventually shift the roles around in order to balance the battery drain, and the cutouts will resume.

I didn't spend 180 bucks to be a beta tester.  Headphones were returned because of the small return window the Google store requires.
