Just putting this out in case someone's keep track of failure trends. I have already opened a case.

Received my Pixel Buds 2 today, got the fast pair notification when I opened the case, and followed Pairing and Setup wizards.

Left bud is not detected, even though it is reporting battery life. Right bud plays audio, notification music when inserted into ear, responds to touch gestures.

Had pairing forgetting, power-cycled phone. Reset pairing on the case. Same outcome.

Forgot pairing again, shut off phone. Reset buds in case, paired them with my Pixelbook, same behavior - left bud non-response, right bud operates as expected.

Pixel 3, Android 10. I reported OS Version, Google App and Google Play Services version to CSR. L/R and Case are all on Firmware 225. Firmware update says it's available, but I left them charging in the case with the case plugged in, my phone next to it, firmware never updated.

Reading through some of the Device Performance threads, there are similar situations out there, with the left bud specifically. Will wait for a few days to see what they come back with, but am on the fence about just returning it at this point.

I'm having the same issue but with the right bud. Left one works fine. Right shows a charge when in the case but charge goes down to 0 as soon as it's removed and it won't connect.

Hi Armando,

Thanks for all the details of the troubleshooting steps you've performed, and I'm sorry to hear that they haven't been successful. You did good to reach out to support and open a case; hopefully they'll be able to assist you with an RMA if that's what it comes down to.

If you haven't already, you might also report the problem using the in-app feedback option. This includes additional diagnostic data which might help the team to investigate.

I'm also going to add this thread to an ongoing escalation for this problem.

Cheers,
John

Same issue here with the right ear bud. No sound or gestures working. I've reset my Pixel 3 and repaired but still the rt bud isn't working. Currently on firmware 159 waiting for an update hoping this will fix the problem.

Eric, my firmware finally updated to 294 today but it hasn't fixed my right bud issue. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps numerous times with no success. Using a OnePlus 7T but have tried on an iPod Touch and OnePlus 6T and right bud doesn't work on them either. I'm assuming it's a software issue since so many people appear to be having similar problems with either left or right.
Hope you have more success after the firmware update.

Thanks all. I tried to leave my Pixel and the buds in the case next to each other in the hopes that the pending update (was 225 on all three components) would push out. Well, it did update the case to 294, but the buds also stopped completely responding to the phone. I tried a reset on both, the pairing will not come up no matter what. They're going back at this point.

Running a pixel 4xl and buds 2, both updated software and firmware. same audio cutting out problems especially when outside exercising. I also have a Garmin smartwatch if that matters. Problems reported in feedback.

I sent back my first pair of Pixel Buds 2 because of this issue and received another pair. The new pair have the same issues as the 1st pair. So, I sent those back today and will be receiving a full refund. Hopefully in the upcoming weeks or months they fix the issue. I'll be monitoring. Also, I can't wait until they release the black color option as well. Working out in these buds have been a joy outside of the connection issue. They are so light and comfortable in my ears.

Having similar connectivity issues. First pair audio would cut out intermittently, particularly with video. Also the range was super limited, cutting out within my one-bedroom apartment. Significant lag with my Pixelbook Go. Returned the first pair, second pair has same issues, even after updating to 295. Really disappointed, I love these buds otherwise! Google, please fix this!

For anyone wondering I've been having this problem, and it's easily fixed too. Forget the pixel buds, and then pair them again. It's worked for me every time this has happened.
