Left Pixel Bud cuts out when either ear is covered with my hand. 0 Recommended Answers 6 Replies 9 Upvotes

Received my new Buds today.  Set up and operation seems fine, but I noticed that when I cover either ear, the left one cuts out. The sound returns as soon as you remover your hand.  All other function seem to work, assistant, pause, etc with taps.  Is this supposed to happen?  I'm now worried a out wearing these under a helmet with ear protection.

Hi Todd,

Can you try disabling the in-ear detection option to see if that changes the behavior at all? I wonder if the sensors might be getting confused somehow.

Thanks!
John

Thanks John. No, that didn't work.  I tried toggling both in-ear and adaptive sound.  It's a little more sporadic today, sometimes the left stays on but the right cuts out.  Sometimes both, but there is always some impact to their operation.  I was thinking the BT connection, but I can walk all over my building and keep the connection.  The next option is something to do with the microphones, where they are reacting negatively to the reduced field created when I cup my ear.  I don't really know, and I still need to test with a helmet to see how they react.

Well it was worth a shot - thanks for trying!

Have your Buds gotten the 295 firmware version yet?

Hmm, okay, so I'm actually able to reproduce this but only when I cover both of my ears with my hands. Covering just one or the other doesn't do anything, but both hands makes the left Bud stutter and drop out.

Like you, my Buds otherwise work great. I don't know how they'd do while wearing a helmet and ear protection though. Please do let us know what you find out. :)

I'm having the same issue. When I cover my ears with my hands, the left one cuts off. Then when I remove my hands, the left one starts playing, but the the music keeps breaking.
