Only happens when I'm using both and moving.  No problems when using both standing still, or when using just one. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting. It sounds like many others are having this issue and a firmware update is needed.

If you haven't already, please be sure to report your experience to the developers via the in-app feedback option. That will include diagnostic data which will help them investigate and correct the problem.
 
I kind of hate to ask, but have you rebooted your phone lately? I had a lot of audio drops on Friday morning but that cleared up completely after rebooting my Pixel 3. 
 
If that still doesn't help then you might want to go ahead and reach out to Support to see if they can offer any other suggestions:

Yep, terrible. Absolutely loved these until I stepped outside for the first time. The buds - the left bud in particular - cuts out constantly, rendering these essentially useless outdoors. I'm seeing so many similar posts that I'm starting to think Google didn't do a single round of UAT outdoors. Everything is up to date, restarted phone, disconnected/reconnected the buds, and guess what? Now they're cutting out indoors too. 

I contacted Google support and was essentially told to "give them some time to self correct, we'll be pushing out some updates." Well, that's specific. Almost like I was being told to hold off until I'm outside the return window. A shame, because out of the box these buds were exactly what I wanted them to be.

Judging by the number of posts I'm seeing indicating similar issues, this is clearly a hardware defect that isn't unique to a single set of buds. Waited a long time for this release. I didn't know I was going to be a beta tester. C'mon Google, be better.

Same issues here, the one dropping out is always the last one you took from the case.
It only happens outside, no issues inside my house.
I already got a replacement and the issue is s still present.
